The Dorchester Prison Admission and Discharge Registers 1782-1901 can be found at Dorset History Centre and on Ancestry. The registers contain a number of different records documenting prisoners in Dorchester Prison. Details vary but you could find: name, age, place of origin, city of residence, trade, marital status or family, number of children, physical characteristics: height, hair color, eye color, complexion, marks and crimes.
There are gaps in the years that are covered. For example, years 1807–1808, 1837, and 1880–1886 are missing.
Poole History Centre Volunteers have searched the records and transcribed the Poole people, attached is an alphabetical list by surname.
